Certification

WHO-GMP manufacturing: what the certificate means

Many export markets and institutional tenders ask for WHO-GMP first. In India, certificates for pharmaceutical products under the WHO certification scheme (CoPPs) are issued by the State Licensing Authority after inspection, and CDSCO publishes a compiled list of WHO-GMP units reported by the states.

What you can do here

A certificate is only as useful as its validity and scope. On PharmXchange, verification reviews the documents a manufacturer submits; a WHO-GMP certificate is the manufacturer's to evidence and yours to check for validity and coverage of your product.

  • Post a requirement that asks for WHO-GMP supply
  • Understand what a WHO-GMP certificate and a CoPP do and do not cover
  • Compare export-oriented quotes privately

Choose what you need

Pick a category, dosage form, state or certification. A single choice opens its guide; a specific combination belongs in your requirement.

Manufacturer profiles

Verified manufacturer profiles are listed publicly only once they are eligible.

A manufacturer appears here only after it is fully verified and meets the standards for a public profile — never on a self-declared claim or an uploaded document alone. You don’t need a listing to reach the right partner: post your manufacturing requirement, and relevant fully verified manufacturers can quote.

A claim is not a certificate

Anyone can type "WHO-GMP" into a company profile. Ask for the certificate itself, check the issuing authority and the validity date, and confirm it covers your dosage form — CDSCO's compiled list is a useful cross-check, but it lags and lists sites, not products. The certification always belongs to the manufacturer's facility: PharmXchange holds no certification itself and manufactures nothing.

Common questions

What does WHO-GMP actually certify?

That a specific manufacturing facility has been inspected against WHO good-manufacturing-practice standards under the WHO certification scheme, as attested by the licensing authority. It attaches to the facility — which is why buyers ask where, exactly, their product will be made.

Is WHO-GMP required for exports from India?

Many destinations and institutional tenders ask for it; the destination market's regulator defines the actual requirement. State the target market in your requirement.

How does PharmXchange treat a manufacturer's WHO-GMP claim?

As information the manufacturer provides. Verification reviews submitted documents, but it is not a certification or a regulatory approval — confirm the certificate's validity and scope yourself. PharmXchange itself holds no manufacturing certifications.

What verification means

Verification checks a business’s identity and the documents it submits, such as licences; manufacturing scope is declared by the manufacturer. It is not a facility audit or a regulatory approval. PharmXchange does not manufacture, inspect products, guarantee quality, or become a party to transactions.
